Behind the Stage

By Ijlal Ahmad Khattak

For the last few days since the incident of mlala has occurred, I have been watching that every Pakistani international media channel is speaking for mala yousaf zai. Every other nog is cashing malala, every political party is talking about mala, and even the international media has left all other important issues specifically the drones attack and is busy in projecting malala issue 24/7. Now the question that alert me and feared me is that why this incident has been given that much importance, why this much media projection has been give to malala, we have watching such incidents for the last 12 years since the US attack on Afghanistan, since US started drones attack on our tribal area, why they were silent why our own media was silent when we see hundred and thousands of malalas get buried under the rubble of school building when struck by either drones or in military operation where were they, this all give me the feeling that something is going wrong which is staged behind the issue of innocent malala yousfzai. Something very distractive has been planned.
few days back we find some foreign activists who joined imran khan in long march against drones attack, the involvement of US citizen, in the voice against drones attack has been witnessed from all the corners of united states, many of journalist started writing against the drones attacks, and the violation of the sovereignty of Pakistan,  and this has started creating problem for the obama administration, and we also know that after bush administration obma is the big supporter of drones attack. But due to this change in the attitude of people of United States can create problem for obma administration, so to justify their stance they need something to support their voice and change the attitude of people in their favour and the incident of malala is key incident in this connection which they can use in their favour. This is one dimension of this incident which shows that why this particular issue has been give that much importance, the second dimension is internal to the issue that is the North Waziristan military operation, we have see huge military deployment in North Waziristan for the last six, seven month as compared to other agencies so such huge deployment showed that the military had planned and made all necessary arrangements but were waiting for a suitable time which was provided by the incident of innocent malala, because in the back ground of every operation we see such incident like malala, if we looked into swat operation we see a fake video of young girl which was given the punishment of lashes, and show to the world the barbarism of Taliban, this issue was give similar treatment in media and a hype was created just to fold the public opinion in favor of military operation and after few weeks we see full-fledged military operation in swat valley. If we looked to south Waziristan operation we see some what the same treatment, when terrorists attack was carried out against the leader of the ruling party late Bainzir Bhutto at that time Mr Rehman Malik came on media and give a statement that the terrorists were form Waziristan and after some days we see that government gives green signal for military operation in south Waziristan.  now the way the media is projecting the issue plus the military preparedness and deployment in north Waziristan shows that they need clear reason which they found in the shape of the malala yousafzai who is on her death bed and fighting for survival.
Now again the question raises that why military will make such incidents as an excuse for operation, so the answer to that is, for a  full-fledged operation, military establishment need strong political and public support which can be only achieve if such incidents are publicized to the extent that public them self demand to start or launch military operation. But in the context of malala yousafzai the public opinion regarding North Wazirstan is divided, but still we have to see that whether this would be enough to mold the public in favour of military establishment to launch North Waziristan operation for which they are almost prepared or not and whether this issue will provide enough help to US government in support of their stance on drones these are the few question which are still unanswered.
